A mission-driven organization serving both makers and lovers of independent film.

FilmTrade's mission

Building creative tools to empower filmmakers to take control of their film distribution

Creating the best ways for film lovers to collect, share, and support films they love

Locally Responsible Video On Demand (LRVOD): we're not your typical streaming service. We think film is best in the context of local communities and physical spaces. We want independent theaters, film festivals, and movie clubs to flourish!

SHARE FILMS

We want to make watching films as easy as possible. We've created "Tap to Watch" film cards to make it easier than ever to stream your films. All you have to do is tap the card with your phone and... voila! The film is ready to play or cast to your TV -- no app required. Share the card with your friends and they can watch it too.

BUILD CONNECTIONS

Through collectible, physical products, Tap to Watch cards allows deeper engagement and permanent ownership of a work of art, as well as direct contact between the audience and filmmaker at in-person events and screenings.

SUPPORT FILMMAKERS

When you purchase a FilmTrade card or make a digital purchase of a film (rent or buy), you're supporting the film team more directly than if you purchase it on platforms like Apple, Amazon, or Google, who also keep a larger share of the sales revenue (often 30-50%, sometimes up to 70% of net). Filmmakers also don't have to work through an intermediary (aggregator, agent, or distributor, who may take 20% or more of the revenue) in order to get their film onto our platform and start selling.

Talk to us!

We're filmmakers and film lovers also! If you have questions about FilmTrade, or are a filmmaker and just want to chat about film distribution in general, please reach out to us at:
